ISO approves a draft revision of the ISO 14001 standard
9th December 2014
After receiving 92% support from member bodies, the International Organisation for Stardardisation (ISO) has approved a draft revision of the ISO 14001 standard, with the new standard now expected to be published by the end of 2015.
The revised standard intends to better align environmental management systems with business strategy and provides a framework to allow organisations to manage risk and maximise opportunities. A greater emphasis will be placed on reducing environmental impacts across the whole life-cycle, with environmental influence expected to extend into the supply chain as well as the development and use of products and services.
